INEOS is building a €5 billion ethane cracker at its site in Antwerp (Project ONE). The final two modules, built in Abu Dhabi, were trapped for months by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. During the one-week ceasefire in mid-June, the two ships carrying the approximately 7,000-tonne, 55-metre-high modules managed to pass through the Strait and continue their journey to Antwerp.
The modules have now reached Antwerp, where construction activity is at its peak, with around 2,500 workers on site. Start-up of the cracker is planned for the second half of 2027.
