Repsol, Toyota Motor Europe, BMW and Bosch have launched a six-month pilot project in Spain to demonstrate the use of 100% renewable gasoline in existing vehicles. Around 20 Toyota and BMW cars will run exclusively on Repsol’s Nexa 95, a gasoline produced from renewable, RED-compliant feedstocks instead of fossil crude oil. It is designed as a drop-in fuel fully compatible with existing gasoline engines and infrastructure while significantly reducing lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions.
Bosch’s “Digital Fuel Twin” will track and certify fuel use throughout the value chain. The project aims to demonstrate renewable fuels as a scalable complement to electrification and will provide data for European discussions on future transport regulation.
