Responding to media reports about suspected fraud involving renewable raw materials, Neste states that it is currently not aware of any verified cases of mislabeling or fraudulent mixing directly linked to its own sourcing.

Neste requires renewable raw materials to be traceable to their point of origin and audits suppliers internally and through independent third parties. It also uses physical and chemical analyses to detect contamination or mislabeling and has increased its direct presence in sourcing regions.

The company participates in traceability and anti-fraud initiatives including the EU Union Database (UDB), Malaysia’s eCOSS system and ISCC activities addressing, among other issues, possible contamination of used cooking oil (UCO) with palm oil. Neste sources renewable raw materials from more than 60 countries.
